Removing Darkness

The work “Removing Darkness”, explore the theme of circle of life and death in the context of the diversity of life forms. It refers to the history of our planet, and more specifically, to the moment when cyanobacteria began to use solar energy for photosynthesis. These light-sensitive organisms started a process that led to the creation of conditions on Earth that formed a biosphere in which we can survive—our ecosystem.

However, it is worth remembering that this evolution resulted in the first ecological disaster, which brought about the mass extinction of anaerobic organisms. What we call the Great Oxygen Revolution was for them the Great Oxygen Catastrophe. This difference, which marks the boundary between life and death, resulted from a change in the proportions of the planet’s atmospheric components and shows how completely different worlds can arise from the same elements, depending on their relative proportions. Told from the perspective of a photon, it narrates its role in biological evolution and the ongoing transformations of life forms.
